For us, it is also an opportunity for us to meet people from all walks of life, while also bonding with our grandchildren. We love having them along for volunteering, as they put on their smiles and learn about giving. It’s also great meeting friends who go about their Christmas shopping while we ring the bells. At the pots, we would usually smile and utter a cheery “Happy Holidays” as people passed by. And when it gets quiet, we would ring the bell to add to the festive mood and attract the crowd. Some years back, both my wife and myself had the honour and opportunity to further contributing to the Christmas Kettle Appeal; we both “starred” in a promotional video, calling more volunteers to join in the Appeal. The Salvation Army
Mr Kuntarjo is a self-employed senior born in Indonesia. He plays competitive tennis. Both Mr Kuntarjo’s children are educated in Singapore, graduated from the National University of Singapore and are married. Once a year, he would go for sport-fishing with his group of friends and his son. Mr Kuntarjo started volunteering with The Salvation Army in December 1987 at Plaza Singapura (at the then Yaohan Department Store’s entrance). He continues to volunteer as a bellringer with his family every year.
