My son Ryan and I enjoyed our experience at all three shifts while Kettling. Being a bell-ringer is such a fun and great way to introduce children to community work. Ryan felt encouraged every single time someone dropped in a donation and we realised that Singaporeans are generous and kind. On average, there was one donor every few minutes. A number of them gave $10 or just dug out whatever coins they had. A few either chatted with Ryan or gave him a thumbs up for his good work. Such positive feedback, through words or donation, are powerful in making the child feel useful and become more confident of himself. We'll certainly participate in kettling this year in 2015... and I hope more parents will take part with their children!
